ACCOMODATIONS FOR VISITORS AND TRAVELERS TO MOROCCO TRAVEL

Some friends suggest that you spend your stay in Morocco in a riad or a guest house, while others suggest a hotel? Making the right decision can be difficult if this is your first trip to Morocco. Don’t panic, we will detail each type of accommodation and it is up to you to make the choice.

Riads :

The riads date back to medieval times, they are old traditional houses, in which families of high social rank lived. These houses have a very particular architecture, composed of 2 or 3 floors, and all the rooms are distributed around a central courtyard where there is a fountain.

These courtyards are often decorated with colourful mosaics, and remind us of many Andalusian courtyards. They also show great craftsmanship in the doors, ceilings and ornaments.

These old houses have had their time of splendour, and over the centuries they have been abandoned. In the 20th century, the rise of Marrakech as an exotic tourist destination attracted many foreigners and celebrities interested in buying these properties to renovate them. As a result, most of these houses were transformed into hotels and restaurants, while retaining their traditional architecture and decoration.

In general, the riads have few rooms and have a very personalized attention. They are very cool and quiet places. Most of them have terraces, with small swimming pools and beautiful spaces to rest.

Hotels :

No need to define hotels, you surely know them! You will find in Morocco small charming hotels, also hotels of big world chains. The choice is huge and some are economical and offer good value for money.

Hostel :

If you want to spend a night in a clean and charming room without paying much, then hostels in a good choice. They are in the form of a hotel but with few rooms and fewer service options.

Kasbahs :

This seems like an excellent choice to stay in if you are in the High Atlas. These fortresses have the peculiarity of being positioned in a spectacular height, which attracts a lot of tourists.

Villas :

You wish to make a trip in the middle of nature but without depriving you of luxury, you can choose to stay in a villa.

Camps in the desert (bivouac) :

If you are in the Moroccan desert, then do not miss the beautiful experience of spending the night in a tent or bivouac. You can admire the starry sky and dine around the fire. This option is usually proposed after a camel ride.
